I have checked their website and done some searches in the past and have not been able to discover whether it is possible to buy the Olsson Variable. It certainly would qualify for the interesting and fun to shoot category.

I think an interesting "modern" bow to shoot would be the Green Horn Sirius -- Now that is a beautiful hunk of metal !!!! And the double curved ceramic Ellipse limbs make it even more interesting and unusual.

This Olsson Variable looks fun, developing on the Perris / OK 'theme'. Does anyone know if we can still buy it, and if so how much?

Saw and held a KG1 today, looks like that will be high on my list. Just need a LH one.

Hi Nic - fancy meeting you here!!

I asked Bertl for the cost of his 'variable' in December last year and the cost breakdown was;

> Shipping 47€
> Your Bank 20€
> My Bank 3€
> Parcel+CD 10€
> Assurance 5€
> Riser 450€
> -------------------------
> Total 535€

Do any resellers carry the Olsson Variable or do you have to get it directly from the manufacturer?

When I asked in December it was only direct, though I could arrange to look one over as Bertl had asked a UK owner to contact me.

I part ex'd my KG1 for the latest at the time - big mistake until I got hold of a Whitehart.

I think these days it is much easier to sell equipment, where as before the internet it was down to local adds so items just got put by - there must be thousands of bows in peoples lofts, garages and sheds.

As for my LH 38lb Whitehart I don't think I will ever shoot it again competitively, but part with it - never!

Hi Nic,

No, it was just too costly (I was starting afresh after a 35 year break) and whilst I do like to try the 'unusual' I couldn't justify it really, so never got to see it. Think my complete set-up was about the same cost as the variable on it's own.

Paul

Always nice to look back at bows you bought earlier in your archery life...perhaps buying with more luck than judgement!
I traded my Samick Progress 2 in for a Marksman Meteor about 1998 time.I shot with the Meteor for about four years ,and got over 15,000 shots off it.
It improved my shooting, didn't stack up,and was shooting OK when I traded it in for my KG Kudos. It was just tired, but a good bow for a beginner.Hence it was taken back in by KG -no problem on PX.
Likewise the Kudos has also improved my shooting, got up to BM two years ago.......

Hi again. The world plan of characterful bows to try is progressing well . Can anyone tell me if Arten ever sold a riser. I know their sights, jigs, stands etc but an ebay seller tells me the riser he is selling is Arten. I am not sure whether they made one or that it just has an Arten sight attached and the guy doesn't know the difference. Can anyone help please?
