See you at the club.

Paula.

Might take you up on that Paula!

One of our club members who owns an Astron bought it after trying Hoyt limbs on a mid-range ILF riser. He found the Astron a far nicer bow to shoot for the money.

My 69in KG1 was lovely. It had a slight twist and negative tiller but was great to shoot, especially barebow.

However, I'm not sorry I sold it. I was on the draw length limit with it back then at 31in and suffered a bit from finger pinch. Nowadays I draw about 32in, which wouldn't be good for it. Every so often when a 72in one pops up on Ebay I am tempted, but I never have the spare cash at the time. One day, maybe.

why do KG1 owners keep these bows if they are not shooting them? Is it first bow syndrome or something more?

IMHO a very stylish and decent shooting bow in it's day. It is a classic.

There's a 'vintage' Marksman on E-Bay at the moment.

Item 160346173302

It pre-dates the Forest Princess and Forest Knight era.... it should be a Trivia question.... anybody know what it is ?

The Stag was much later...... there's a Stag on e-bay at the moment and a TS4 !!

I've a hunch it might be a Saracen but only saw one once and that was in the mid-60's..... My memory's not what it was !!

It is a Stag 66" 38@28" but RH by the looks of the photos I have

The TD4 is 'incomplete' but look yummy.

There is also a Challenger, border and Kelso.

On the subject of unknown Marksman riser / bows. How do I go about identifying a riser? Has the wood style of the TD4 'in the paterns in the wood' but the shape of the Portland on Brian excellent site. Limb fixing are large hole (for bolt) and a smaller hole where as many others have a pin instead (pin on riser fixing). Think it is a Marksman however....any ideas?

I strated shooting recurves in 1957 and still own every bow I bought (and every pair of limbs)

they don't eat much, were good friends, and I like them on the wall.

One of the top character bows I recall was a riser made in Sweden as I recall. the grip was on a rod. the rod proceeded thru the riser. I don't recall the exact configuration. I wish I had bought one. Unique looker. not a clue as to how it shot.

Best thing to do is post a photo of unknown bow on this forum and somebody "should" be able to identify it

Is the bow you are refering to the variable bow? http://www.archery-interchange.net/f...iable-bow.html

Best wishes, Mark
