When you consider the stresses that a limb goes through just in normal shooting I am surprised that there are not more limb failures as manufacturers push the boundaries of the materials used.

Outside of this there are so many things that we do that could contribute.

From stringing incorrectly, storage, too low too high bracing heights, limbs tips not straight, string and serving material used, arrow weight and droping them on hard floors and finally bow set up to name the most common.

All could be used to wriggle out of replacements, however fortunately limb failures are still rare so the manufacturers seem to take the route of least resistance.

woohoo! I got a call from Aim4sport today, who in turn heard back from Samick this morning, and they've agreed to cover the limbs under warranty, and give me a full refund!

So it just goes to show folks, that keeping your receipts is worth doing, even after the 12 month period expires.

Now, what can I spend this money on???

An interesting example that one. Many people think the early problems were design-related, but they were down to material issues.

All the prototypes were fine, even on heavy hunting recurves. When full production kicked in it turned out part of the fresh batch of material was flawed, and in such a way that the flaws were undetectable until the limbs were shot. Happily they isolated the problem and sourced different material. Since then, not a single failure. My own HEXVs have had well over 10k arrows through them and they're still perfect.

As WFB says, given the complexity of making limbs it's surprising more of them don't fail. That's a testament to the hard work put in by the bowyers of all the companies.

Heard that Border have dry fired the current generation HEX5's thousands of times and still there are no damage marks..(Could Sid confirm?)

I did misread you, so apologies for that, but I hope my comments were useful to someone

Harrison - Sid's slipped his chains and run off on holiday I'm afraid. I expect he'll be recaptured soon and put back to work making limbs.
