limb question

Hi all.
I would like to buy some new limbs. At the moment I shoot with Hoyt cx 900`s...but I will exchange them. ( I get cracks where it says " x foam ). I have heared about that problem by many archers... . But I am not sure which limbs I shoot choose/ buy next. ( just to give more Info`s : I draw 31 " ; drawweight is about 51 lbs..[ at my fingers ]) It is very difficult for me to decide. Maybe someone have such a draw/ drawweight and can give me an advice

Here's the usual recommendation for Border. If they have what you want in stock, and it's in your price range buy it. If not then it'll be a long wait to get them made up, but worth it.

I'll put another vote for the Borders.

I understand that the Hoyt CX 900's are the smoother drawing set of limbs You might want to look at Border CXG limbs smooth and quick. they do not use foam at Border they use a temp stable core called hyperflex and I bet it will still be a few more years before Hoyt, Win&Win and Samick will get round to start using it. But if you want something very special there top limbs are the HEX 5's plus because they do custom limbs they will make them any weight and if you want paint them in a colour of your choice.

NICE

Just got some Win & Win Inno Carbons.
Can't fault them.

Wife uses Samick - same again.

Both are brilliant - will stay with these brands.

I don't shoot your poundage but I do have a longer draw length, so here's my 2p:

If you want a "stiffer" feel through the clicker zone - as some archers do - Samick limbs seem to be the way to go at present.

If you prefer a smoother feel, then this is the direction that W&W are heading in. Having drawn several sets of Hoyt limbs, I would say they lie between Samick and W&W in this regard.

However, the smoothest I have ever drawn remain Border limbs. You pay a bit extra for their top models, but the cheaper ones will compare favourably with most other top limbs.

Ultimately, the ideal solution is to try a few alternatives and pick whatever feels good and fits your budget. Have fun

Many thanks to all of your answers!

Yes, ähhm I`ve thought about samick limbs ( I tested a pair of samick extreme bf limbs in the past. But I found this limbs quite "stiff" through the klicker...) I did have a pair of Border Txg`s (72") but after 3 weeks the bottom limb failed and that was the end of Border limbs...( for me...)
Did anyone shoot Samick extreme limbs ?( the "normal" carbon+foam extreme not the bf...)

I can understand your caution about buying another set of limbs by a particular manufacturer when you've had a set break. Having a bow break while you're using it is a traumatic experience, as I know (it was an old flat bow, before anyone asks).

However, if you're looking for a brand of limbs that never breaks, you won't. W&W, Samick, Hoyt... they all fail at one time or another. The important thing is whether the manufacturer (and the shop you buy the limbs from) will stand behind their product and honour warranties. I'm not implying other companies do not, but Border often goes above and beyond the call of duty on warranty replacements.

Samick BFs - I haven't drawn these, but I have tried some Samick Extremes. They felt stiff at full draw, and my understanding is that the Masters are similar.

i went from 34# winact 70"( pulling about 36-37#) to 34# border HEX5-H 68"(pulling about 37-38#) and immediately went from 190FPS to 196FPS on an initial tune.....you may not have to increase poundage too much when going to borders to get a marked performance improvement.....YMMV and JMHO...

Extremes are probably the least smooth of the Samick limbs. Having two bows, I routinely shoot Masters and Extremes side-by-side and I think the masters are a little smoother. (But Extremes are noticably more torsionally rigid.)
I have tried Extreme BFs and I think these are a little smoother again that the Masters (I think they are about the same as Winex, at least at my 28.5" drawlength).

I can't tell myself, but when people with longer drawlengths (>31") pull my bows, they conclude that Samick stuff, particularly Extremes, are NOT for people with very long draws. At least not if you want a super-smooth clicker-zone. archer thom and Rhys, both of whom have very long draws, reckon my limbs stack massively at about 31" - I can't draw this far myself.
I love the feel of Samick limbs, but I have to be honest; don't get them if you have a big draw.

Not trying to be argumentative but, I draw 32.75" to the back of the bow. I had a pair of 34# Samick Extreme BFs (marked 32# but measured 34# @ 28" with a digital scale) that gave me 41# and a few ounces on a Spigarelli 2001 riser at the lightest setting. They did not stack, at all. They were not quite as smooth at the end of the draw as the 2 pairs of WinEx I have (one 34#, one 30#) but they were smooth all the way back. Felt heavier on the fingers than the 34# WinEx too, but then they shot a bit faster.

Wow. Thanks for the info.
I don't pull those kinds of drawlengths, but that is very interesting nontheless.
I was just passing on what I was told by others really.

I don't own a pair of Extreme BF (only Master and Extremes), and my limbs are perfectly smooth at my relatively short drawlength. I didn't hear much about BFs before I tried them, but I did hear that they are more than competitive with the top limbs from W&W, and indeed may be outright the best limbs from the "big three". I would have a couple of pairs by now if I could afford them.

Good shooting to you
