Junior county coaching session

We have been tasked with organising a coaching event for the juniors in our county.

Anyone got any ideas as to what kind of things we should do to make it worth while?

We've been told we can't offer them buckets of cholocate and/or sweets because of the potential for nut allergies.

We're looking for ideas for things that we can do with the juniors that will be informative, potentially improve their shooting but most importantly be fun and exciting.

Target market juniors novice to jr bowman.

All ideas and suggestions appreciated

We had a junior squad day in Cumbria today. (3rd this year)
Things we have done (besides warm up)

Rounds
H2H competitions
Team events

As we have a mix of novice archers and different bow styles we usually use a handicap system abd mix and match groups to make even teams. Tim Swane is the organiser and I am sure he would be happy to give more details.

YAA Junior squad usually finish with a team comp including parents/staff.
So many arrows for the whole team in a fixed time - maybe with reverse scoring or some other twist. Kath can be very "evil" with the scoring twists.
Or shooting at an A4 sheet - which next time is halved and again and again. Miss means you are eliminated.
Christmas shoot we had santas and rendeers snowmen and snowflakes with different values for hat nose etc Shared buffet.
Always some fun element to finish. Prizes for winning team usually a box of heroes or somesuch.

Look at posture and core strength - simple swiss ball balances and if anyone has one of those low squashy swiss ball type things or a wobble board you can stand on - there are loads of simple things you can do. Perhaps someone qualified from a local leisure centre could come in. Yes they might not do the excercises on a regular basis, but it would give them some awareness of being able to hold their core strong and upright.

Look at what they eat during a shoot and - mmm maybe not ...

i cant even get a county senior squad together never mind a junior one......

then you have the welsh powers that be sending juniors on welsh squad that are averaging 350 on a portsmouth.
not to mention one junior that sumitted a compound score of 604 for a portsmouth. then turned around and said its in the club records book

i could write a book i can tell you.
