After watching the first few episodes, I've managed to pick up a few useful tips. If you haven't seen these, they're really worth a look especially if, like me, you're new to archery.

Awesome episodes!

Can you please elaborate on Episode 2? I'm having trouble that the bow shoulder creeps upwards during the shot. The only way I've been able to "solve" this problem is by pushing (the shoulder down and also making more use of my triceps).

I can't figure out how to do the bone-bone-bone thing, and I think you simplify it too much in the video (or probably I'm just missing the obvious "how to").

What tricks are there, what should I feel in my bow arm? How can I control what I do is right?

I think my bow hand position is good, it's just the shoulder that's a problem.

Thanks!

I think the argument is coach what you understand. As far as I'm aware, ASW has never competed with a longbow. It would be extremely silly of him to try and tell you how to shoot one.

To put it another way, if Pip Bickerstaffe did a video on how to shoot an ELB, I would not complain that he didn't cover cam timing.

You'd be surprised actually. A lot of good recurve form applies to Longbows.

"A lot of longbow archers use longbow as an excuse to shoot badly" - not my words but those of our current county longbow champion, who shoots it in the same style as he does his recurve and has set county records like this.

I think that's totally true.
I've seen some longbow archers with horrible form. Unsurprisingly, they get rubbish scores...They then just put it down to the inherent inaccuracy of that type of bow.
On the other hand, I've also seen longbow archers who take a more disciplined & analytical approach to their shooting (Like recurve & compound shooters). Guess what? They’re the ones who go home with the medals & records! Funny that, isn’t it?
By the way, have you warned your county champ that he’s just about to become unpopular with his opponents?
It probably won’t bother him!

Is this more an oportunity for somebody else rather than a negative?

Have you read How to Train in Archery by Maurice and Will Thompson 1870's?

Lots in common with todays modern recurve target archery even how to select equipment and train to shoot the york round, the short section on arrows is also interesting given no video in those days.
