Ranking lists in scotland

Any one know why we have ranking lists for recurve and compound archers in Scotland, but not for Barebow, longbow or any other type of bow for that matter ?

If people compete with a recognised bow, why aren't there ranking lists for them ?

Just wondered if there was a really good reason behind it ?

Why not ask the person who organises the rankings directly?

As far as I know there have always been (in the last 20 years) rankings for the 2 main bowstyles and no others (compound appearing in 1995 I think) perhaps because there's too few people shooting other bowstyles to make a ranking worthwhile? Or perhaps because one of the purposes of ranking was for team selection... i.e. compound and recurve only

Lets face it, in some years we're just about managing enough ladies compounds!

Maybe if you asked they would do a ladies barebow ranking with just you on it

My guess it's just a chicken and egg thing. Without a ranking list some of these bow styles will probably never get very popular. Plus let's face it somebody has to do the work. Probably won't see a ranking list for them unless you volunteer to do it yourself

ps

I entered an comp last year as gents barebow on my entry form and the response (email) I got back was "what's barebow?" .....

My thoughts are that if the bow style is recognised, why not rank it ? and there may only be one or two people on it to start with, but then maybe others would come out of the woodwork to join in too over time.

And as for responses re doing a competition with something than recurve or compound .... how about "only an idiot like you would try to do a full FITA with a barebow !"

Was there drug testing in force????

(maybe best if I don't enter the Bannockburn shoot.....she might get another record - Number of direct hits with a recurve riser before subject passes out...)

Drug testing not required.....

Just imagined the faces (and other anatomical parts) of certain archers in the general area of the target !

And why bother to run the risk of damaging my riser ???? I'll leave it in the box and see how many direct hits could be managed in 1 minute !

Nice one Florence, and to think that not so long ago you were thinking about packing it in. I bet now you're as glad as the rest of us that you didn't.

Jury's still out on that one, Woodsplitter.

But at least I'm enjoying my archery a bit more at the moment..... just have to get the same effect in life in general !! However, the impossible usually takes a bit longer !
