My cat doesn't kill wildlife, craps in the litter box in our house (usually around our lunchtime, just to annoy us) and doesn't go out at night as I don't like it when she wanders too far. She has been trained not to go out on the street (too many badly driven, fast cars) and is usually well behaved, if a little batty.

If you want to keep moggies out of your garden, a couple of things. My father swore by house bricks. He would lob one at next doors cat and would usually miss by a good margin but with enough house brick debris to make cat think twice. My father's neighbour once had a go at him and said, "Why do you keep chucking house bricks at our cats and missing them?". My Dad, who was a cricketer (lived for his cricket) stated in a matter of fact manner 'Mrs XXXX, if I'd wanted to hit your cat, I would have'.
She didn't complain again. My father's other tactic was sprinklers. No cat ventures on your lawn with a sprinkler going, they don't like to get wet.

My preferred method of dealing with intruder felines (who bother my moggy) is a wet, recently used tea-bag. You hit a cat with a teabag. Its wet, makes a mess of the fur but won't hurt it unduly. My other method is a yard brush. I don't have to explain how I use that.

I find that a well thrown potato works wonders followed by chasing the damned cat down the street... if I ever do catch one we have a canal at the bottom of the garden and if it doesn't make it over it's getting wet!!

And these electronic cat scarers aren't worth the money they cost. We have three at different points around the garden to stop the cats from coming in... doesn't stop them!!
