Archery gets the Wii treatment!

In LA this week, Nintendo have been showing off the archery game in their forthcoming 'Wii Sports Resort' game, that makes use of their new Motion Plus add-on that makes the wii-remote a load more accurate and sensitive.

In true wii-style, you draw the bow as you would in real-life - so hopefully us lot will have an advantage!

Check out the video here:
YouTube - E3 2009: Wii Sports Resort Archery On Stage Demonstration

Couple of questions:
1. How can we convince GNAS/FITA to introduce moving targets?
2. Can we get that guy demo'ing some coaching??! Anchor point man!
3. Can we set up a Wii score leaderboard by the time this launches in the Autumn?

Cool!

They should combine it with the Wii balance board so stance comes into play. I'd like to see a FITA (or whatever) sponsored game where you can choose bow type and locations, field etc. Ah well, it would only stop me doing the real thing if the weather was atrocious.

Cheers,
Linda

Archery has already been on the Wii, as part of Mario and Sonic Olympics. This game seems very similar, in terms of how you draw and shoot etc.

Looks good. Does seem to be more controlable than the current versions. Is this a new piece of hardware that has to be bought or is it a firmware/software thing.

The one thing I did like was you let go of the button to release rather than press it.

Yeah, it uses the the Motion Plus add-on that connects onto the end of the wii-remote. I think they're going to bundle one with this game.

And Sony also showed a prototype of their PS3 "wii-remote" style controller, and had a really nice archery tech demo for that. The Sony guys kept saying that the archery was the most fun game they'd developed for it to date.

Theirs also seemed to have the sensitivity that you probably could do a 'proper' archery sim that reacted realistically to how good your draw was, but is at least a year away from seeing the light of day over here.

Looks like archery games could be the next big thing on console!!!
