I notice the split limbs, if the old website was still up there was an article saying how much better solid limbs were over split.

I'm guessing the EX40 in grey suggests a 40" ATA though the possibly more interesting bit might be the "All New Tournamnet Bow RANGE From Merlin which sort of suggests the X-Range might be getting superseeded...

There was also a thread (I'm looking for it) that suggested that someone had come up with a new cam that was a better design than those currently on the market and that a British bow manufacturer might be using them... could be Merlin and on this bow...

Of course, they would have waited until just after I bought my new (Merlin) bow... *grumble, grumble, grumble*...

To clarify

We think

a) Merlin are bringing out a new bow Excalibur(At Nimes archery tournament?)
b) Its split limb with a revised riser design & longer ATA.
c) Has new ultra wicked British designed cams on it.

I can't wait!

I have fingers & toes crossed they have designed the new limbs & cams to be retro fitted to the XV as I don't have "new bow" money anytime in the next five years.............some hopes!!!!!! please Ben!

Excalibur

Do not know the tech specs.
Talking to Ben b4 Xmas, primarily this was designed for Ladies/Juniors.
Bow was tested at Loughboro Uni b4 xmas, to be launched at Nimes in Jan 09

According to Ben all trials surpassed expectations!!!!

Looking at the only pic i have see of the new bow (come on Ben don't keep us in the dark!) it looks like you will have to save your pennies as it looks like it will not fit on to a xv. From what i can remember from a conversation with Ben, about a year ago, you need the split limb to accommodate the new cam.

Hi all,

Yes, the Excalibur is our new compound bow range for 09. Three different lengths of bow based on the same design. The bow in the picture is the longer riser EX40 (40" axle to axle) It will also be available in 37" and 34" lengths.

Fire away with any questions and I'll be happy to help.

I was aware of the spilt limb design coming(rumour mill)

My friend at county squad said she'd been told it would be a juniors/ladies bow.....??.

Sure whatever merlin has learnt will quickly be passed onto the gents bows etc.

Hey Ben

How much do you think it will weigh in the hand for the ladies/jnr bow ?

What was the average differance between what people thought the poundage was and the actual poundage ?

When are you thinking of having a test ready one in the shop for people to have a look at ?

Thanks Gary

Cams are to be a twin cam based around the Binary system. There will be a limited amount of modular draw length adjustment on each cam size (by replaceable modules), but the emphasis is on manufacturing multiple cam sizes to keep the cams performing their best at all draw lengths. For those that are familiar with our Viper cam they will know how good the cable stop was. This is the same. However, we have a much smoother draw cycle than Vipers.

We have not made a specific Gents/Ladies version of this bow, but are offering it in different lengths. Choice of length will - likely usual - depend more on draw length and application. For target archery I see most ladies using the short version and most gents the longer version.

We will be launching the bow at the end of the month. Full production starts Feb 1st with deliveries of pre-orders begining in March. All set for the outdoor season!

I don't want to give exact specified numbers yet, such as speed, mass weight etc. as these may change slightly as we are still making minor tweaks here and there.
