Bowtech Guardian

Check the Bowtech Web Site under News, there was recall on all Guardians in the U.S. because of Limb failures. You should be able to get replacment limbs from the U.K. importers, whoever they are?

Take my advise and get a proper Bow, I quit carrying Bowtech because of problems with the Company and their products.

I think you mean the General not the Guardian.
I can find no mention of a recall of the Guardian on the Bowtech website.
I own 3 Bowtechs (including the Guardian ) and have not had the slightest problem with any of them.
For the record the problem with the General was a design fault NOT the result of a DRYFIRE.

I was aware there was a recall on the General but not on the Guardian. I couldnt see anything on the news page, do you have a link to the article?

Yup, the Guardian is a great bow (as are most Bowtechs) And all of the problems I have seen with the Guardian limbs have been from 'dry fire' type incidents.

Apologies It was the General not the Guardian, they all sound the same to me since Bowtech sucks up to the US Military at every opportunity. I suppose I'm just biased since I despise Bowtech with a vengence !! they have produced Some Good Bows though.

I had exactly that problem with my Guardian six months ago, due a dry-fire. I was testing a new D-loop and my fingers were slippery (yes, I should have known better, we learn by making mistakes...).

My decision was to replace the Limbs. I do not see how someone could keep shooting with a splintered Limb.

As I have said before "Do not draw a compound bow without an arrow".
Some bows will stand several dry fires, some will not stand ONE !!
We all have a collection of old arrows so why not use one while drawing your bow.
Stand and face a brick wall if needed so if you do have a misshap all you finish up with is a wrecked OLD arrow rather than a wrecked BOW.
If you want to spend money on bow repairs then be my guest.
I know what I rather do!!!

Be warned arrows can bounce straight back off brick walls especially aluminium, carbon just sends shards all over the place including from where they came.

Perhaps every compound archer should have a small target at home for such maintenance as neither option is a good one.

I use a small layered foam target (cost about £40 when I bought it) and its worth its weight in gold.
I made a small stand and the whole thing takes about 1 min to erect.
Worth every penny for peace of mind.
Not as cheap as a brick wall but kinder to the arrows:-)

I have seen how aluminium/carbon composite arrows shatter on impact and wouldn't shoot one at a brick wall for love or money.

I certainly wouldn't shoot a damaged bow, not one with damaged limbs and especially not a compound. You're asking for some serious injury there.

I was on a club shooting line once with a young man whose recurve limb completely broke. It was a Rolan recurve bow and limb and the whole thing basically 'went'. He came away with some injury to his forehead but it was a frightening thing to watch and be next to. Now imagine THAT happening with a compound bow.
