What is Creep Tuning ?

I've been out of the sport too long !

I've read a few articles and threads that mention 'Creep Tuning' but nobody actually says what it is or how to do it !

It was probably around 10 years ago under another name, but can somebody please tell me about it ?

Thanks in anticipation.

I think it's to do with comparing results when you pull hard against the stops v results when you pull gently close to the stops. If the timing isn't right at full draw, one cam will move more as you pull harder, giving slightly different impacts between hard pull and gentle pull.

That sounds about right Geoff, I'll still dig out my old article when I have a chance though.

Twisting and untwisting cables is not my favourite pastime.
What if cables could be shortened without twisting them? What if the method was very simple and fast?
Cable slides, the simple ones, pull each cable out of line, and to prevent them from rubbing against each other, one is pulled further off line than the other.
By pulling one cable even further off line, the timing can be changed.(for better or for worse)
A cable slide with one slot cut less deeply than normal would pull one cable further off line. If that made things better, you at least know which cable needs to be shortened. If it turns out spot on; job done!
If you have two cable slides and the relative slot depths are different, it takes seconds to find out if one is better than the other.

Interesting thought Geoff.

As an aside Ionce found a device which fitted on the ands of the axle shafts where the cables normally loop, then the cables attached to it. The device had screw adjustment for fine tuning cams without having to keep using a bow press. Annoying thing is I have never been able to find it since. I thought it was either a Genesis or Zenith product, but neither sides have it any more.

I don't remember those, Sambow. There was an idea on the old steel cable compounds that had a fitting between the cable and the yoke, it was screw adjustable and took up the slack. Added weight and some caused the cables to rattle together, I think.

I think the adjusters you are referring to are still made by Spot Hogg - SPOT-HOGG.COM -
