Creep tuning. Put a piece of tape across a target. Shoot from 20yards and hit the tape. The next arrow is shot not from the wall but just a bit forward at the start of the power stroke. This can be tricky as the bow feels like it wants to "go". Depending on where the arrow hits (above or below the tape) will tell you which cable to adjust. Sorry I cant tell you which does which as its written on a piece of paper which is in the car at the moment. I have tried it and it does work very well. With a portable bow press it only takes a few mins to make the adjustments as they are usually very small (maybe half a twist). |

Its good to have you on this forum. I read your posts on Archery Learning Centre with interest. What are your opinions on some archers advocating the top cam leading slightly ?................ personally I couldn't get it to work for me and get far better results with 'balanced' cams.

The top cam leading condition is sorted out during the creep tune procedure. The reason for it, or why it happens, is a function of where the center of the bow is in relation to where the arrow flies through the bow. On Hoyts in particular, the center of the bow is at the throat of the grip and the arrow flies through nearly two inches above that. So either the top cam needs to reel out a little more string, or it needs to be advanced slightly. There have been bows in the past that the top cam is slightly larger and this would compensate for this.
