Harrison - if the limbs are marked 40lbs @ 28in and you're drawing 3in over that, then you should expect to get around 45lbs on the fingers.

i have tried different stances, brian. i used to shoot an oblique/open stance and it messed up my lumbar spine, so had no choice but to return to a parallel stance. and frankly, there wasn't much difference in contact. from what i've been told, my form is good (apart from a few things regarding my loose). i use an arrowhead chestguard that gives me a consistent surface.

from what the bareshaft tests showed yesterday, my old 32# winacts (which weigh 37# when i draw them) are better matched to my current arrows than my 34# borders, which are weighing in at 41#.

harrison, johnk is right about your higher poundage, as you have a long draw. mine be less than 28", so you'd think the poundage would be lower.
Thanks guys, hope you manage to sort out the arrow spine, just a question, but what arrows and spine are you using now?

ACE 470, 32in from dip of nock to tip of point. 110gr break-off points, Beiter In-Out nocks. 42.5lbs on the fingers.

The arrows tune slightly stiff, but well within parameters. Hope this helps

I'm getting some arrows from school,(Free, woohoo!!) I might get some A/C/E's like you John...My arrow flight with the current Navigators are quite slow, but still enough to reach 90 accurately...I think 520 ACE would be enough, if not I will break the points a bit.

If your arrows are tuning slightly stiff, why don't you get some 120g points? They should help...Thanks for the input.

Clickerati, have you tried the James Park tuning method?i.eead plunger? If not, this could help .

Because they group well enough and I can't be bothered to switch the points

Also, I'm going up in poundage this year, and I'd only have to switch them back again.

I put a bow in the same size bow on my tillering table. I put an "obstuction" of the appropritate desinty and location on the tillering table [i am 5'9" also used my measurements]. I could not get a 10# increase in draw weigt over the marked bow weight.

Do all your bows show the same increase in draw weight. It is clear the obsturction did indeed change the tiller. Maybe boys and girls are built differently . Have ya ever measured the amount of deflection of the string from the normal straight line from draw fingers to tip??

T'is an interesting ergonomic/tiller situation. what do you set you tiller to?

Use a hanging scale with your current arrows and clicker set where it normally is. (Just don't let go when it goes "click"). That way no obstruction and you will get a true reading from which to spine. Though because of the extra speed with Borders you may find that you need a higher rating than the chart suggests.

As for the tiller and knocking point, that will be trial and error. Where Borders normally like 4-6mm of +tiller you might have to go a fair bit higher than this to compensate for the effect of the contact.

This is all very well. We can tune the bow and measure it independently. But the most important part of the process is the archer. And here we have a young lady with a history of back trouble who (if i have interpreted this right) is shooting a bow with the equivalent of -25% drop off . More open stances put greater strain on the lower back. So you are effectively overbowed to a great extent, and risk further back problems. To put it bluntly, if the greater need to pull against the resistance of your body is caused by the geometry of the bow, the only answer is to change the bow, lovely though your current one is.
