Marking Arrows

I'm new to this and making my own arrows (great fun!) but need some quick advice as I'm making a set of 12 wooden arrows tonight to shoot on Wednesday ...

What markings do I need on the arrows to meet all the regulations for shooting target, field & 3D ?

I ask as I'm about to varnish them and want to put whatever marks are required in marker pen under the lacquer ... could paint them on after, but would prefer to know and sort it out before the varnish goes on ....

I've tried searching the forum, and looking on the NFAS website etc, but can't find anything about the rules for arrow markings ....

Any help much appreciated ....

NFAS arrow marking rules

Hi, This comes from the NFAS website- Hope this helps

# Every arrow shot must be clearly marked with the contestant's name, initials or insignia.
# All arrows must be clearly marked so as to indicate the order in which they were shot. If an error occurs, the group must be informed before the next arrow is shot for the incorrectly shot arrow to score.
#
Arrows which unduly damage targets, such as broadheads and blunts are not permitted and no such hunting arrows, neither broadhead nor blunts, will be carried during a tournament.

I use these :-Archers Rest • View topic - Arrow ID tags

Might be OK for you if you varnish over them

The rules have changed this year.....

"All arrows must bear the archer's name. The identification should be a minimum of the archer's initial and surname"

And clubs are checking.........

Arrow Marking

Hi Raedwald, Yes of course you are right, Id forgotten that- I took the wording directly from the current NFAS website so perhaps they need to be a bit quicker at updating rule changes on the site
